Our next class will be on Monday September 8.
Here's your assignment for that class:
1. Bring 3 newspaper articles or magazine articles with you to class.
2. Write a one-page paragraph on "A Person Who Has Influenced My Life". (The subject should be someone other than Jesus Christ.)
3. In the textbook, read the following: pages 11-27, 66-68, 125, 133. Also read pp. 70-74; 143-152, 156-166, 201-211. (Note: When reading the text assignments, underline key phrases to help you remember important facts. Make notes in the margin of the book to remind you of key facts. A highlighter can also be useful for marking key sections. The book is a tool. Make it work for you.)
TIPS ON WRITING
1. Select the person and write the name on a sheet of paper.
2. Think of 3 key ways the person has influenced you. Write down a phrase or sentence for each of those 3 ways.
3. Think of some details for each of those 3 key ways. List them on that sheet of paper you're working on.
4. Now organize the three sections, as to which will come first, second, and third.
5. Think of an introduction sentence. Example: My best friend in high school was a person who influenced me and taught me a lot. (You don't have to use these exact words; these are just to give you an idea.)
6. Write a rough draft, using the details you have written down.
7. Read your rough draft and make corrections, additions, etc., to make the paragraph better.
8. After you have made all the changes needed, then write the final draft. You can email it to me at patful01@msn.com or you can print out the essay and bring it with you to class Monday, Sept. 8.

Thursday Grammar Class canceled
The Grammar class scheduled for Thursday nights at Sheridan Hills has been canceled due to lack of enough enrollment. Those who would like to transfer to the Monday night class in Hialeah can contact the NOBTS office to request the change.
